Private Law Office

Brooklyn, NY

StudioSC was commissioned by a boutique law firm to design their new offices within an existing loft space in Williamsburg. A modern addition and roof terrace was part of the program, allowing us to integrate the old timber framed loft, with a new steel and concrete addition, connected by a long corridor that serves as the central artery of the office. Using unique materials and compositions, the concept is honed by dramatic visual perspectives within the space, creating a functional and well-appointed office environment.

EXISTING CONDITIONS

The existing conditions presented a raw loft space with exposed timber frames and an industrial feel. The transformation into a modern law office introduced a dynamic contrast between the original elements and new sleek steel and concrete finishes. The once open and unrefined space was carefully reimagined, with the corridor acting as the central design feature that ties the old and new elements together. The result is a well-balanced workspace that reflects both the character of the loft and the modern functionality of the addition.

EXISTING CONDITIONS

The details of the materials play a significant role in defining the office environment. The combination of timber beams, polished steel accents, and concrete surfaces creates a harmonious blend of old and new. These patterns and textures enhance the visual narrative, creating a layered aesthetic that brings richness to the office design.

The terrace, previously an underutilized rooftop, has been transformed into an inviting outdoor extension of the office. The design maximizes the space by incorporating seating areas and greenery, providing a comfortable environment for breaks or informal meetings.
