Greenwich Village Townhouse
New York, NY

About the Project
Within a historic, landmark neighborhood in Greenwich Village, New York City, we were tasked with the conversion and complete gut renovation of an existing multifamily building into a private, 6 story home. The façade was required to be restored to its historic original state, while the interiors were crafted to speak to the historic nature of the home while bringing in large, open aired spaces that bridge the gap between contemporary and past. A singular curved oak staircase ties the home together vertically, with every inch being redesigned and rebuilt.

The dining room and kitchen showcase a harmonious blend of historic and contemporary elements. Natural wood cabinetry contrasts with sleek marble countertops and neutral-toned walls, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Clean lines and thoughtful lighting enhance the open-plan layout, while high-end finishes bring an elegant touch. Large windows connect the space with the outdoors, ensuring natural light floods through the interior.
The terrace seamlessly integrates with the kitchen, extending the indoor living space outside. With floor-to-ceiling glass doors, natural light flows abundantly, while warm wood accents create continuity between both areas. This connection enhances the sense of openness, and the subtle yet refined materials highlight a blend of nature and urban living.

The living room embraces coziness and sophistication, featuring soft textures and rich colors. Plush furnishings in neutral tones pair beautifully with wooden elements, creating a sense of warmth. The carefully selected decor and contemporary art elevate the space, making it a comfortable yet stylish retreat.
The architectural drawing emphasizes the building’s cohesiveness and structural integrity. The curved oak staircase, a centerpiece of the design, is visually stunning and practical. Its sweeping lines create a sense of fluidity, harmonizing with the home’s overall aesthetic, while the spacious layout ensures that every room flows naturally.
