About the Project
This modern single-family townhouse in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood is choreographed as a sequence of interconnected spaces, unfolding from public to private, luminous to intimate. At its heart, a sculptural stair acts as both circulation spine and visual anchor, linking all floors with fluid continuity. The journey culminates at the lowest level, where a sunken garden forms a secluded outdoor room, recessed for privacy and designed as a meditative retreat. Here, a dedicated wellness suite with sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi defines the home’s restorative core. The design is guided by rhythm and progression, each space leading naturally to the next, crafting a layered urban sanctuary.

The façade presents a contemporary yet contextually sensitive presence on the block, balancing crisp geometry with natural warmth. Clad in pale brick and accented with wood details, the exterior achieves a modern refinement while nodding to the neighborhood’s material character. Large vertical windows punctuate the front, ensuring generous light penetration and establishing an elegant rhythm across the elevation. The architecture emphasizes proportion and restraint, creating a townhouse that feels both fresh and timeless in its urban setting.
Upon entry, the living lounge immediately reveals the home’s defining element: a gracefully sculpted stair in white oak and steel, rising as a central spine. Its curved form is both structural and sculptural, softening the sharp edges of the plan and inviting upward movement. Around it, the lounge is framed with clean lines, muted tones, and warm textures, creating a calm, welcoming threshold. The combination of tactile wood, natural light, and subtle detailing sets the tone for a home where circulation itself becomes an experience of design.
The second floor living room opens into a light-filled expanse that seamlessly integrates with the kitchen and bar. The interior palette is punctuated with carefully selected furnishings, modern pieces with pops of color. The bar, just like other areas in the house, has a unique stone selection that anchors the social zone, creating a hub designed equally for gathering and quiet retreat.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area is oriented toward a private balcony. Sliding doors frame the view, and allows natural ventilation to permeate the heart of the home. A palette of stone, wood, and matte finishes grounds the design, while tailored details in the cabinetry and fixtures heighten the sense of refinement. The dining room’s openness makes it both functional and modern, an everyday space elevated by its connection to light, landscape, and crafted materiality.
The lower level transforms into an intimate recreation and wellness zone. Here, a lounge space opens directly onto the patio, where an outdoor jacuzzi and seating area create a rare urban retreat. The design emphasizes warmth and comfort, with wood-lined floor pattern, followed by the brick design, connecting it all together with it’s subdued lighting, creating a very cozy atmosphere.
The bedrooms are each designed as distinct yet harmonious environments. The primary suite is serene and understated, emphasizing natural textures and expansive glazing to capture morning light. The secondary bedrooms introduce bolder gestures, color, pattern, or playful textures, each telling its own story while remaining within the project’s cohesive language of restraint and craft. Together, they offer spaces that reflect individuality yet share the same architectural clarity, ensuring every room feels both personal and connected to the whole.
The bathrooms showcase a high level of detail, transforming functional spaces into moments of luxury. Distinctive stone surfaces, marble with bold veining, textured slabs, and clean tile patterns, become the central design feature, animated by carefully considered lighting. Fixtures are minimal yet tactile, emphasizing craftsmanship and precision. The result is a series of rooms that feel playful in their variety yet unified in their sense of refinement, elevating everyday experiences.
Crowning the home, the rooftop terrace ties together the townhome. Elevated above the street, it offers sweeping views of the neighborhood while remaining private. Designed as an outdoor living room, the terrace is finished with warm wood decking and greenery, creating a relaxed atmosphere for entertaining or retreat.
