Beacon House
Beacon, New York
Designed for an acclaimed video editor and architectural photographer, this upstate New York home was a truly unique gut renovation. The existing home had character and qualities that deserved to be kept in tact, however the layout of certain social and private spaces were not being utilized to their fullest potential. Walls and finishes were removed completely to allow for the updates, which feature a solid oak and steel cantilevered staircase up to a loft that had been closed off previously.

The exterior transformation balances preservation and modern upgrades. Darkened wood cladding enhances its sculptural presence, while new openings frame views of the landscape. The design respects the home’s original form while elevating its character.
The bedrooms are serene retreats with minimalist detailing and natural finishes, inviting soft daylight. The bathrooms echo this elegance, with custom millwork, sleek fixtures, and a spa-like primary bath featuring a soaking tub and expansive shower.
