About the Project

Situated on the border of the Boerum Hill and Carrol Gardens neighborhoods on a brick row home block, this project brings a certain contextual sensitivity with respect to its surroundings while still being a complete interior gut renovation with a one story addition. The rear façade was extended back to allow for full floor homes to be created given the existing building’s shallow footprint, and seamlessly integrated as if it were always part of the existing neighboring design fabric.

The front façade was an adaptive reuse of the existing brick facade which enlarged the existing windows, maximizing light and views. This careful approach ensures the extension feels like a natural evolution of the building.

Inside, the renovation breathes new life into the existing structure, with modern finishes and open floor plans that cater to contemporary living. Natural light floods the interiors through expansive windows, creating airy, inviting spaces. The minimalist design palette, featuring wood accents and neutral tones, offers a timeless sophistication. This transformation is a testament to blending modern amenities with the building’s historic roots, providing a seamless balance between tradition and innovation.
