About the Project
This adaptive reuse project close to the Williamsburg waterfront transforms a five floor warehouse into a spacious loft office building. The exterior of the building was updated to retain many original details that pay homage to the buildings history, while creating an open facade at the street level to activate the base of the building. The alley next to the building was also transformed from a gated parking lot into a welcoming garden courtyard. The same attention to retaining aspects of the buildings history was carried into the lobby, including incorporating a bank safe that was discovered in the building and making it an integral part of the lobby.

EXISTING CONDITIONS
The interior retains much of the building’s industrial character, with exposed beams and raw materials taking center stage. Refined finishes such as polished concrete and natural wood create a harmonious contrast with the warehouse’s rugged past. Ample natural light pours in through large windows, filling the loft-like spaces and emphasizing the open, airy atmosphere. Careful attention was given to integrating modern design while maintaining a connection to the building’s rich history.
